Our School

Our School was opened in 1969.  It is a modern building with light and comfortable classrooms ideally situated for our relaxed but committed approach to getting the best out of our children.

We are a happy and busy school with 246 pupils currently on roll.

Our Philosophy is quite simple - our children are at the heart of everything we do.

At Kingmoor Junior School, we relish the opportunity to share this exciting period of your child's life. Your child will be challenged, supported, and motivated to ensure they reach their full potential. We aim to foster a love of learning that will stay with our pupils for the rest of their lives.

The Kingmoor Curriculum goes well beyond the statutory minimum. Our pupils take part in a wealth of diverse and enriching activities - from achieving their St John's Lifesaving Award to taking part in high quality musical performances, from competitive and recreational sporting events to developing a love of a foreign language.

We are rightly very proud of the extensive extra-curricular provision that our team of dedicated staff offer throughout the year. Specialist teachers and coaches further enhance the pupils’ learning experiences. Since national tests began, our pupils have consistently achieved excellent results in all subjects.

Inside and out we enjoy excellent facilities; our school hall is the setting for many of our performances, festivals and celebrations, where parents frequently join us to share in the life of our school. Our classrooms are modern and very well equipped, with excellent resources which facilitate learning. We are fortunate in having extensive grounds with ample grassy areas for play and sports, along with hard areas for all weather activities.

We are very much a Community School. Our pupils are consistently our greatest ambassadors and play a significant role in both the local and wider community, across the City of Carlisle and beyond. Alongside Kingmoor Community Business Centre we are proud to serve our locality and endeavour to offer excellence and opportunity for all.
